Over the weekend near Red Deer an officer shot a man a stolen truck. After this incident, the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is investigating.

On Saturday, the officers received a tip at around 8:15 a.m. about stolen property near Eckville. Upon arrival, the officer found four cars at the scene and a man was sleeping in one of them which was a Ford F250 truck.

The officer checked the plate of the Ford and it came back to a different vehicle. The officer then returned to his police vehicle while he requested assistance.

ASIRT stated that while the officer was waiting for back up, a confrontation happened and the officer fired his service weapon.

The man received serious injuries from a gunshot wound, but all non-life threatening. He was then treated by the EMS and taken to the hospital where he still stays.

The Ford F250 was stolen from Saskatoon several days ago and the license plate on it was also stolen.
