A 25-year-old Calgary resident is now arrested and facing charges.
RCMP officers were conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle that had seemed suspicious. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it drove off. The police pursued the vehicle, but then it came to a sudden stop and reversed into an officer and two police cars.
The police officer was then dragged by the suspect’s vehicle before fleeing the scene again. The suspect vehicle hit another vehicle before it drove into a ditch. After crashing into the ditch, the suspect attempted to escape on foot but was later caught by a canine unit.
Skyler Stevens-Rose of Calgary has been charged with many convictions after the incident.
There were also three youth in the vehicle while he was driving, but they have now been released.
The officer who got hit by the suspect vehicle is now in stable condition after surgery.
