Members of Calgary Police Service tactical unit will soon have a new vehicle at their disposal as they begin to train for the new armoured rescue vehicle (ARV).
They started training last week and plan to have their training finished before the end of the month. Once training is finished, the people of Calgary can expect to see this vehicle on the streets. The members of the CPS are VERY excited.
The current ARV has been in service for a good 12 years. Now that it has gotten very difficult to maintain it due to it’s age and parts, it would be irresponsible to keep using the vehicle.
The new ARV is slightly over $500,000 and is almost twice as heavy as it’s older relative. With it’s high price tag, the ARV is equipped for almost all situations including stolen vehicle, active shooter, and rescue calls.
