If you were driving around on Tuesday evening you would’ve seen a mass of smoke being produced by a big flame. You probably thought it was a forest fire or a burning building, but that was not the case.
The smoke and strong flames you saw were from a pipeline explosion that occurred north of Prince George.
When the Enbridge pipeline exploded no FortisBC infrastructure had been damaged, but the utility does rely on this pipeline to supply natural gas across the province including the Fraser Valley.
They are now asking customers to lower their usage while they resolve the issue. They still have not speculated a time frame on how long it will take to resolve this issue.
