Though it is against the law, people are still parking in front of fire hydrants. Many explain that they will only be there for a few minutes, but that is still not acceptable. Disasters and emergencies cannot be predicted. A few minutes of extra steps for firefighters could be detrimental.
Drivers need to be more responsible. It is inconsiderate to park in front of a fire hydrant, especially if there are lives in danger.
The North Vancouver Fire Chief warns that if there is an emergency and your car is in the way, there is a big chance of your windows being broken in order to follow procedure.
