Image result for knocking on door
Richmond RCMP have issued a warning to those who reside in the Hamilton area after receiving reports of people going door-to-door claiming to be representatives of a home security firm, ADT.
The officers learned about the scam after they had been shown posts from neighbourhood residents that had originally been made in a closed group on a social media forum.
Though the scammers claimed to be ADT representatives, they did not present any ID or credentials, which is what usual door-to-door representatives do first hand.
Richmond RCMP warns all Richmond residents if someone unexpectedly shows up at your door, asking for personal information or asking to come into your door, do not give them any information and do not allow them to enter.
Genuine representatives from ADT will have company-issued security cards and provincial licenses which are prominently displayed.
Please contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 or [email protected] if you have any information about this. If you wish to stay anonymous, please provide a tip via Crime Stoppers by calling 800-222-8477.
