Mounties have arrested a man who was wanted for multiple warrants. Many of them include allegedly uttering death threats and assaulting someone that he was previously in a relationship with.

According to the officers, Damien Chris Taypotat forcibly entered the home of a woman that he had been in a relationship with and physically attacked her while threatening her with an axe.

Earlier this month, the 36-year-old posed a big threat to women’s safety and police asked for the public’s help to locate him.

On Tuesday, officers stopped to help a stranded motorist on Sacree Trail N.W. at around 2:30 p.m. and identified the driver as Damien Chris Taypotat.

He faces multiple charges including:

  • Four counts of failing to comply with court orders
  • Three counts of uttering threats to cause death
  • One count of assault with a weapon
  • One count of break and enter
  • One count of theft under $5,000.
  • One count of possession of a controlled substance
